SUMMARY:CAL SIOP for Instructional Coaches: Advanced Institute
DESCRIPTION:Deepen your expertise in supporting teachers with implementation of the SIOP Model through job-embedded coaching and professional learning. Designed specifically for instructional coaches who want to strengthen their ability to provide sustained\, site-based support\, join us for this interactive online offering. \nThis comprehensive and interactive institute is designed for instructional coaches and educational leaders who support teachers in implementing the SIOP Model. Ideal for those with prior SIOP training and experience\, this advanced institute deepens participants’ understanding of the model while strengthening their capacity to deliver impactful\, job-embedded professional development. \nParticipants will revisit key components and features of the SIOP Model to refine their knowledge and instructional leadership. They will also explore advanced strategies for supporting teachers\, including: \n\nCoaching and co-planning lessons by content area and grade level\nFacilitating professional learning communities\nConducting lesson study\nImplementing sustainable\, site-based professional development\n\nThe institute follows a dynamic flipped-classroom model\, blending synchronous and asynchronous online learning. Participants will attend four live 4.5-hour sessions and complete self-paced assignments between sessions. Asynchronous tasks include: \n\nWatching recorded mini-lectures\nReading relevant research\nAnalyzing classroom videos of SIOP lessons\nDesigning coaching and PD plans\nEngaging with peers via discussion boards and blog posts\n\nParticipants will also benefit from small-group coaching with CAL facilitators and opportunities to network with fellow PD providers from across the globe. \nIs This the Right Institute for You? \n\nHave completed a full introductory SIOP workshop and possess a strong foundational understanding of the model\nHave implemented SIOP in their classrooms and/or have substantial experience coaching others in its use\nHave previously attended CAL’s SIOP for Trainers: Intermediate Institute or similar training\nCan identify SIOP strategies in practice but are seeking support to help teachers implement with greater fidelity\nAre available between the institute’s start and end dates to complete approximately 4 hours of self-paced assignments\nCan participate fully in remote sessions using an individual device (note: shared devices are not permitted for the virtual format)\n\n*This institute is not recommended for those with little or no SIOP experience. A “CAL SIOP Coach Level 1” badge will be issued through the Credly platform as a digital representation of an experience and learning at the end of an institute or workshop. \nPolicies\nRegistration \nTo reserve your seat for this institute\, please complete the online registration process. Please be aware that your seat at the workshop will only be confirmed once payment is received. If you are registering multiple participants\, please have the name\, title\, school\, and email addresses available before you begin the registration process. We encourage you to register as soon as possible as many workshops fill up quickly. \nPayment \nBefore beginning the registration process\, please determine your preferred method of payment (credit card\, check\, or purchase order). When paying by credit card using the online registration system\, your seat will be immediately confirmed\, and you will receive a confirmation email upon successful completion of the transaction. CAL accepts American Express\, Discover\, MasterCard\, and VISA. For registrations to be paid by purchase order or check\, please note that your seat will be tentatively reserved until payment is received. Once the payment is received\, you will receive a confirmation email. There will be a fee of $15.00 for each check returned as uncollectible. Participants may cancel their registration and receive a full refund up to three (3) weeks prior to the institute start date by sending an email to solutions@cal.org. After that date\, no refunds will be available. However\, registrants may choose to receive the institute materials by mail\, postpone their attendance to a future CAL Institute\, or transfer the registration to another individual up to three (3) days prior to the course start date.
