SUMMARY:CAL SIOP Training of Trainers Institute: Foundations (In-Person Institute)
DESCRIPTION:July 8\, 9\, 10\, and 11\, 2024 | Attend this engaging in-person institute to enhance your Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model knowledge to support the delivery of effective professional development workshops at your school or district. \nIn-Person Institute\nREGISTER HERE \nThis comprehensive and interactive institute is designed to help participants develop and deliver SIOP Model professional development as facilitators in their school or district.  \nThe SIOP Foundations Training of Trainers Institute is designed for those with a basic working knowledge of the SIOP Model through past SIOP Model workshop attendance\, self-study\, or classroom implementation. Participants will review the components of the SIOP Model and acquire knowledge and skills to help PreK-12 or adult education teachers better integrate content and language instruction for English learners as Professional Development facilitators.  \nParticipants attend four 5.5-hour face-to-face sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with CAL facilitators daily to discuss best practices in SIOP professional development\, network with other PD facilitators from schools around the world\, and receive small group coaching from a CAL PD coach.  \nThis is the right strand for those who: \n\nHave limited or little experience with the SIOP Model and would like a review of the eight components and 30 features* \nMay have attended an SIOP workshop in the past\, but would like to prepare to teach others about the SIOP Model \nAre interested in beginning to develop the skills of an SIOP facilitator \nAre available between July 8–11\, 2024\, to attend in-person workshop sessions. \n\n*This institute is not intended for those who have extensive knowledge of training others on the SIOP Model. However\, registrants may choose to receive the institute materials by mail\, postpone their attendance to a future CAL Institute\, or transfer the registration to another individual up to three (3) days prior to the course start date.
