DESCRIPTION:Learn how to enhance or develop your dual language program based on the seven research-based strands of effective dual language education in the CAL publication Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education (Howard et al.\, 2018). Sign up with your leadership team and work collaboratively to make your dual language program the best it can be! \nInstitute Details\nThis workshop is intended for school and district leaders (to include principals\, assistant principals\, and teacher leaders) who are seeking to deepen their practical understanding of the positive impact that bilingualism has on student achievement\, as well as the importance of ensuring program and language equity\, in order to create a campus culture where bilingualism\, biliteracy\, and multicultural competence thrive.  \nFramed by the CAL publication\, Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education\, this workshop provides information and tools to help school leaders gain a solid understanding of the benefits of dual language education\, explore how they can develop a program that promotes student success on their campus\, and increase their impact as leaders.  \nObjectives: \n\nIdentify the key components and benefits of effective dual language education programs. \nApply strategies that promote language and cultural equity to support bilingualism\, biliteracy\, academic achievement\, and sociocultural competence.\nAnalyze their current school or district policies and practices to determine areas for growth in dual language programming.\nDevelop an action plan to strengthen or expand dual language program implementation in their context. \n\nSchedule \nDay 1: Thursday\, January 14\, 2027\, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. ET \n\nWelcome \nProgram Structure: Models\, Goals & Research \nCurriculum & Instruction for Biliteracy \nAssessment: Measuring Biliteracy and Academic Growth \nSynthesis & Reflection \n\nDay 2: Friday\, January 15\, 2027\, 10:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. ET \n\nWelcome  \nStaff Quality: Recruiting\, Developing & Retaining DLE Educators \nFamily & Community Engagement: Building an Equity-centered DLE Culture Support & Resources: Policies\, Systems & Sustainability \nSupport & Resources: Policies\, Systems & Sustainability \nAction Planning Across Seven Strands \nClosing \n\nNOTE: Each day includes a 60-minute lunch break at the midpoint.  \nCost\n\nEarly bird pricing (individual): $805 per person if registered by December 23\, 2026\nStandard individual rate: $880 per person for registrations after December 23\, 2026\nGroups of 2 or more qualify for the early bird rate of $770 per person\nCost includes all digital training materials and a mailed hard copy of the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education 3rd Edition book\, provided we have your mailing address\nRegister early—space is limited\nRegistration closes on July 28\, 2026\n\nVenue\nThis institute will be held online.
