SUMMARY:Leading Dual Language Programs for Student Success
DESCRIPTION:Institute Details\nThis workshop is intended for school and district leaders (to include principals\, assistant principals\, and teacher leaders) who are seeking to deepen their practical understanding of the positive impact that bilingualism has on student achievement\, as well as the importance of ensuring program and language equity\, in order to create a campus culture where bilingualism\, biliteracy\, and multicultural competence thrive.  \nFramed by the CAL publication\, Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education\, this workshop provides information and tools to help school leaders gain a solid understanding of the benefits of dual language education\, explore how they can develop a program that promotes student success on their campus\, and increase their impact as leaders.  \nObjectives:  \nParticipants will be able to: \n\nIdentify the key components and benefits of effective dual language education programs. \nApply strategies that promote language and cultural equity to support bilingualism\, biliteracy\, academic achievement\, and sociocultural competence. \nAnalyze their current school or district policies and practices to determine areas for growth in dual language programming.  \nDevelop an action plan to strengthen or expand dual language program implementation in their context. \n\nAgenda\nDay 1: Tuesday\, July 27\, 2027\, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. ET \n\nWelcome \nProgram Structure: Models\, Goals & Research \nCurriculum & Instruction for Biliteracy \nAssessment: Measuring Biliteracy and Academic Growth \nSynthesis & Reflection \n\nDay 2: Wednesday\, July 28\, 2027\, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. ET \n\nIdentify the key components and benefits of effective dual language education programs. \nApply strategies that promote language and cultural equity to support bilingualism\, biliteracy\, academic achievement\, and sociocultural competence. \nAnalyze their current school or district policies and practices to determine areas for growth in dual language programming.  \nDevelop an action plan to strengthen or expand dual language program implementation in their context. \n\nCost\n\nEarly bird pricing (individual): $770 per person if registered by February 16\, 2026\nStandard individual rate: $820 per person for registrations after February 16\, 2026\nGroups of 2 or more qualify for the early bird rate of $770 per person\nCost includes all digital training materials and a mailed hard copy of the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education 3rd Edition book\, provided we have your mailing address\nRegister early—space is limited\nRegistration closes on March 2\, 2026\n\nVenue\nThis institute will be held online.
