SUMMARY:Spanish Literacy Institute (¡en español!): Fostering Spanish Language and Literacy Development
DESCRIPTION:Learn research-based strategies to provide effective language and literacy instruction in Spanish in developmental and transitional bilingual\, dual language and immersion education programs. \nThis interactive institute provides effective methodologies for teaching academic language and literacy in Spanish to students in K-5 in a wide variety of programs where Spanish is the language of instruction. Classroom practices are framed by an understanding of how Spanish and English linguistic features are the same and different. \nThe institute will provide both live (synchronous) and on-own (asynchronous) online learning and take place over several days. It will include: \n\nMini-workshop/webinar sessions with CAL facilitators to understand and discuss effective practice as well as network with other educators with similar priorities\nSelf-paced sessions in which participants watch relevant videos\, complete blogs\, and apply learning to their own classrooms\nA culminating project in which participants plan lessons based on what they have learned\n\nQuestions? Email CAL with any questions you may have about the institute. \nCERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION\nParticipants will receive a CAL Certificate of Completion which may be used for continuing education credit. \nRegistration\nPlease click here for registration.
