Gain the knowledge, tools, and insight needed to guide, monitor, and strengthen SIOP implementation by aligning your leadership role with teacher professional learning. 

This one-day, interactive virtual institute is designed specifically for administrators and instructional leaders who are supporting teachers engaged in CAL SIOP professional development. 

Through a blend of presentations, discussion, video analysis, and guided planning, participants will deepen their understanding of the CAL SIOP Model and learn how to create systems of support that align with classroom practice and teacher learning. 

This institute equips school and district leaders to recognize key features of sheltered instruction, monitor implementation efforts, and sustain momentum over time. Leaders will leave with a practical understanding of their role in aligning schoolwide systems with multilingual learner success. 

Learning Outcomes 

Participants will: 

  • Explore foundational elements of the CAL SIOP Model with a focus on Lesson Preparation, Strategies, and Interaction 
  • Understand how the SIOP Model supports academic language development for multilingual learners 
  • Learn how to observe and identify high-quality sheltered instruction in classrooms 
  • Discuss feedback and coaching strategies aligned to SIOP practices 
  • Reflect on the administrator’s role in sustaining implementation and supporting professional learning

Schedule 

  • One interactive live session held on November 4, 2025, from 9:30 AM–3:00 PM ET (includes scheduled breaks) 
  • This is a fully synchronous event; there is no required asynchronous work 

Cost 

  • Early bird pricing (individual or group of 2+): $400 per person if registered by October 14, 2025 
  • Standard individual rate: $475 per person for registrations after October 14, 2025 
  • Groups of 2 or more qualify for the early bird rate of $400 per person if registered by October 14, 2025 
  • Register early—space is limited 
  • Registration closes on October 14, 2025 

Cost includes the following materials*: 

  • A downloadable workshop packet with tools and templates to support school- and district-level implementation 
  • Access to digital resources and sample observation tools aligned to CAL SIOP 

Venue 

This institute will be held fully online, combining interactive live Zoom sessions. 

Certificate of Completion 

Participants will earn a CAL SIOP for Administrators digital badge for 5 hours of participation, issued through the Credly platform. This verifiable credential includes metadata outlining your learning and can be shared on LinkedIn or other professional platforms. 

CAL-Credly badges offer a secure and portable way to showcase your professional development.

Policies 

Registration  

Seats are confirmed only after payment is received. To register, complete the online form and have participant names, titles, schools, and emails ready (for group registrations). Early registration is recommended, as space is limited. 

Payment  

CAL accepts credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AmEx), checks, and purchase orders. Credit card payments confirm registration immediately. For POs or checks, seats are tentatively held until payment is received. Upload POs during registration or email them to payables@cal.org. Mail checks to: Center for Applied Linguistics,

A $15 fee applies for returned checks. 

Cancellation Policy  

You may cancel and receive a full refund up to 3 weeks before the institute by emailing solutions@cal.org. After that, refunds are not available, but you may request materials by mail, transfer to a future institute, or substitute another participant up to 3 days before the start date. 

CAL may cancel or reschedule events due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, full refunds will be issued.  

Fair Use of Materials  

Participants may use CAL materials for internal school or district training. Use for fee-based services is not permitted. Contact CAL for clarification if needed.
