Coaching Cycles
CAL’s coaching cycles give districts and schools an external, expert perspective on how their bilingual/dual language program is being implemented in practice. Grounded in CAL’s Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education, each cycle is built to surface what’s working well, pinpoint areas for growth, and delivery clear, principle-aligned recommendations that leaders can act on to strengthen their program.
While the focus of each cycle is tailored to a program’s specific goals, the process typically includes collaborative planning with district and school leaders, structured classroom observations, and a debrief. CAL then provides a written summary of observations, themes, and recommendations, along with customized professional development to help put those recommendations into practice
