Deepen your expertise in supporting teachers with implementation of the SIOP Model through job-embedded coaching and professional learning.
This interactive, cohort-based virtual institute is designed for educators with a solid foundation in CAL SIOP who are ready to become facilitators and trainers.
Building on your previous knowledge and experience, this institute focuses on strengthening your understanding of the eight components of the CAL SIOP Model while equipping you with essential training and coaching skills to guide colleagues in implementing sheltered instruction.
Using a flipped classroom approach, participants will engage in four live, 4.5-hour online sessions and complete facilitator-assigned self-paced activities between meetings. These activities include video analysis, research-based readings, planning exercises, and reflective discussions with peers..
Learning Outcomes
Participants will learn how to:
- Deepen their understanding of the CAL SIOP Model’s eight components and 30 features
- Apply adult learning principles to deliver effective SIOP professional development
- Adapt training materials to meet the needs of diverse educators and school contexts
- Facilitate interactive professional learning sessions using CAL SIOP strategies
- Provide feedback and coaching to support classroom implementation
- Plan and refine PD sessions aligned with school or district goals
Who Should Attend
This institute is ideal for educators who:
- Have prior knowledge of the CAL SIOP Model and want to grow as PD facilitators
- May have attended previous SIOP workshops and are ready to lead training efforts
- Are committed to attending all four live sessions and completing approximately 2 hours of self-paced work per week
- Have access to their own device (shared log-ins are not permitted)

Schedule
- Live Sessions: January 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2026, from 9:30 AM–12:30 PM and 1:30–3:00 PM ET each day
- Self-paced Content: Approximately 4 hours of asynchronous, facilitator-assigned tasks
- Note: Tasks may be completed during and up to one month after the institute to qualify for additional digital badges.
Cost
- Early bird pricing (individual or group of 2+): $1,365 per person if registered by December 16, 2025

Venue
This institute will be held fully online, combining interactive live Zoom sessions.
Certificate of Completion
Participants will earn a CAL SIOP Coach Level 1 digital badge for 18 hours of participation, issued through the Credly platform. This verifiable credential includes metadata outlining your learning and can be shared on LinkedIn or other professional platforms.
CAL-Credly badges offer a secure and portable way to showcase your professional development.

Registration
Seats are confirmed only after payment is received. To register, complete the online form and have participant names, titles, schools, and emails ready (for group registrations). Early registration is recommended, as space is limited.
Payment
CAL accepts credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AmEx), checks, and purchase orders. Credit card payments confirm registration immediately. For POs or checks, seats are tentatively held until payment is received. Upload POs during registration or email them to payables@cal.org. Mail checks to: Center for Applied Linguistics,

Cancellation Policy
You may cancel and receive a full refund up to 3 weeks before the institute by emailing solutions@cal.org. After that, refunds are not available, but you may request materials by mail, transfer to a future institute, or substitute another participant up to 3 days before the start date.
CAL may cancel or reschedule events due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, full refunds will be issued.
Fair Use of Materials
Participants may use CAL materials for internal school or district training. Use for fee-based services is not permitted. Contact CAL for clarification if needed.
