Enhance your knowledge and use of the SIOP Model to support classroom instruction for Multilingual learners at your school or district.  

By joining the four-day virtual CAL SIOP for Educators institute, build your confidence in planning and delivering lessons that effectively integrate language development with content instruction. This interactive professional learning experience introduces educators to the research-based CAL SIOP Model and provides practical strategies for meeting the needs of multilingual learners across grade levels and content areas. 

Designed for educators who are new to CAL SIOP, the institute offers a comprehensive overview of its eight components, with opportunities to apply them through demonstrations, video analysis, small-group tasks, and lesson planning. Participants will reflect on how to adapt CAL SIOP strategies for their specific content area, grade level, student population, and school initiatives. 

Between sessions, participants will complete approximately four hours of facilitator-assigned asynchronous tasks to deepen their learning. The institute follows a flipped classroom model, encouraging collaboration with peers and CAL facilitators while building a ready-to-use CAL SIOP lesson plan. 

Learning Outcomes 

Participants will: 

• Gain a foundational understanding of the eight components of the CAL SIOP Model 

• Learn strategies to support second language acquisition through lesson planning and delivery 

• Observe and analyze model SIOP lessons through video examples 

• Create their own content-based SIOP lesson plans tailored to their classroom

This institute is ideal for PreK–12 educators and school-based teams who are new to the SIOP Model or seeking a refresher on its eight components. Coaches, specialists, and administrators supporting multilingual learners are also encouraged to attend.

Schedule 

• Four interactive live sessions held on September 7, 9, 14, and 16, 2027, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00–2:30 PM ET each day 

• Approximately 4 hours of facilitator-assigned, self-paced learning to be completed between sessions 

Cost 

• Early bird pricing (individual): $1,330 per person if registered by August 17, 2027 

• Standard individual rate: $1,545 per person for registrations after August 17, 2027 

• Groups of 2 or more qualify for the early bird rate of $1,330 per person

This badge serves as a verifiable digital credential that can be shared across professional networks and includes metadata outlining the scope of learning.

Policies 

Registration  

Seats are confirmed only after payment is received. To register, complete the online form and have participant names, titles, schools, and emails ready (for group registrations). Early registration is recommended, as space is limited. 

Payment  

CAL accepts credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AmEx), checks, and purchase orders. Credit card payments confirm registration immediately. For POs or checks, seats are tentatively held until payment is received. Upload POs during registration or email them to payables@cal.org. Mail checks to:

Cancellation Policy  

You may cancel and receive a full refund up to 3 weeks before the institute by emailing solutions@cal.org. After that, refunds are not available, but you may request materials by mail, transfer to a future institute, or substitute another participant up to 3 days before the start date. 

CAL may cancel or reschedule events due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, full refunds will be issued.  

Fair Use of Materials  

Participants may use CAL materials for internal school or district training. Use for fee-based services is not permitted. Contact CAL for clarification if needed.
